Caption : Coconut oil in the process of being weighed and sold at an oil mill in Kochi, Kerala, DISPARITY in the prices of copra and coconut oil and unscientific method of transaction coupled with the irrational tax structure has literally crippled coconut oil industry in the state. Dwindling demand for the oil, collecting input tax on copra and refunding the same by collecting out put tax from sale of coconut oil has also aided the downfall of the industry.
