Caption : The Bangalore Mahanagara Palike's health official explaining the simple method of cleaning fruits and vegetables, at the inauguration of World Consumer Rights Day, organised by the Department of Food, Civil Supplies, Consumer Affairs, in Bangalore on March 15, 2006. In this process of cleaning, salt, lime (mixed with water) and plain water is used. These process take around 8 - 10 min. This simple method of cleaning helps to remove the residues of PESTICIDES used by the farmer during cultivation. The solutions can be used for about a week for a family of ten members.
