Gold CONSUMPTION in the country has reached an all time high of 277 tonnes in the second quarter of 2005. The CONSUMPTION in 2004 was 617 tonnes, of which 517 tonnes was in jewellery and ornaments and 100 tonnes in retail investment. Exports have also doubled from 1.9 billion dollars in 2003-04 to 3.8 billion dollars in 2004-05.
