As per the studies by the Agriculture and Processed Food Products Exports Development Authority (APEDA) the current export rate stands at Rs.249.55 crores in 2003-04 from Rs.18.83 crores in 1993-94. Major buyers are Britain, Japan and the Netherlands. The area under cultivation has also increased from 53,000 hectares in 1993-94 to 1,03,000 hectares in 2001-02.
