The women self-help groups (SHGS) of Tamil Nadu Women In Agriculture (TANWA) of Poyyundarkottai in Orathanadu taluk have provided marketing facility for the farmers, who produce pulses and maize, thanks to the contract farming introduced in the district with the help of National Agriculture Marketing Federation (NAFED). Acting as an agent for NAFED, nearly eleven TANWA SHGS have procured 120 bags (fifty kilos each) of black gram and green gram from farmers of Poyyundarkottai. The groups have procured the pulses at the rate of Rs.17.50 per kg for black gram and Rs.18.50 per kg for green gram.
