Caption : The severe scarcity of good quality coconut seeds is posing a threat to the existence of coconut farming in Kerala. The Seed Development Agricultural Assistat Directorate in Vadakara usually procures coconut seeds from Thottinpalam, Ulleri and Malappuram. The number of coconut seeds which was 11.5 lakh in 1994 has fallen to 3.5 lakh this year. A good seed fetches up to Rs 11.50 for the owner.
