Caption : Not Nayagara, it is Hogenakkal falls in full flow, a feast to the eyes. Hogenakkal is one of the breathtaking beauty spots in the State. Usually dry and rocky for many seasons, now its full and roaring. Thanks to the rain in catchment areas and Karnataka Government which opened its Cauvery gates for Tamil Nadu. This is known for its waterfalls with medicinal properties, set amidst lush green wood. 'Parisal' (a boat made of palm fibre) ride through river Cauvery will be pleasent experience. The Cauvery enters Tamil Nadu through Biligundulu and flows into Hogenakkal in the form of a waterfall. Hogenakkal in Kannada means 'smoking rock', since the spray of water caused by the waterfall resembles a smoke screen. On an average, around 15,000 tourists visit the place between April and May.
