Caption : Rock Fort Temple at Tiruchirapalli. This temple, towering over the old city and perched on a 83 metre high massive rock formation, is a military and architectural marvel. The Fort was founded in the later half of the 17th century by the kings of Madurai. The Mathrubhuteshwara Temple, Lord Ganesha Temple and few cave temples with interesting sculptures dating back to the Pallava time (6th - 7th centuries) are housed inside the fort. (31/10/1942)
