Caption : The ailing elephant of the Nataraja temple, Chidambaram . At the personal request of Mr. Gurumurthi, one of the Dikshithars, the Executive Secretary of SPCA. Madras. Mr. S. N. Rajah, approached veterinary experts in the city to examine the elephant. Three of them. Dr. S. Ftajendran, Dr. N. Binai Babu and Dr. A. V. Gopalakrishnan reached Chidambaram the same day. In a nerve-racking three-hour operation, they drained the mass of puss, cleaned the wound with antiseptics and administered antibiotics and dressed it.
