Caption : Carefully preserved manuscripts at the French Institute of Pondicherry. The manuscripts are stored in a room with controlled temperature and humidity. The institute has over 8,500 bundles of manuscripts, painstakingly collected from various sources including temple priests and mutts since 1955. The largest collection is that of the Saiva Siddhanta manuscripts. There are over 1,20,000 texts of this particular doctrine. The texts are transcribed and made available on CD as well as paper format. The institute has printed four volumes of descriptive catalogue covering 475 bundles. The Institute has been recognised as a Manuscript Resource Centre by the National Manuscripts Mission.
