Caption : PALAKKAD, KERALA, 26/06/2016: A water reflection image of traditional fisherman fishing in a Kole wetland near Thrissur. A good part of the states riverine biodiversity is disappearing due to environmentally destructive practices like sand mining, unsustainable fishing and introduction of foreign species. Several of the exotic species that are thriving in Kerala's waters are carnivorous. These fishes eat the larvae and juveniles of the fresh water species during breeding period, thereby adversely affecting the fresh water fish population. Photo: K. K. Mustafah
