Mr. Swaminathan presented awards and certificates to banks and non-governmental organisations for their contribution to the SHG-Bank linkage programme in Tamil Nadu. More than 1.5 lakh self-help groups had been linked with bank credits of Rs. 425 crores till March this year. Last year, the NABARD, Chennai, provided Rs. 20 lakhs for capacity building of the SHGs.
