ALBERT HALL

Image ID: 12195776

Caption : JAIPUR, 10/07/2006: The Rajasthan Government has backtracked on its controversial decision to use falcons to shoo away pigeons from the historic Albert Hall Museum situated in Ram Niwas Garden, following strong protests by nature lovers and bird lovers. The museum's priceless wall paintings and other objects were being defaced by pigeon droppings and pigeons had made nests in all parts of the building. The Indo-Sarcenic style Albert Hall was built by the then ruler of Jaipur, Sawai Ram Singh II, in 1868 as a drought relief project. It was opened later with an exquisite collection of sculptures, paintings, decorative wares, an Egyptian mummy and Persian carpets. Photo: Gopal Sunger
